If the boxes you found had gaps, holes or were damaged, now id the time to repair them with extra cardboard from spare boxes you got.
As you can see, the boxes I got had holes and were missing a side.
That's ok, I got extra boxes and just cut out pieces to cover the entire back and patch the holes. I used Duct tape to join the pieces and seal seams and joints.
Notice that the bottom of the body box needs to be above their knees, so they can move freely.
You can use the papercraft images for all sides of the costume as some others on the internet suggest, but that is one heck of a lot of work, time and expense. Instead I spray paint the boxes in the appropriate color(s) first.
Then, I use the papercraft "skins" for only the front (except for the head. I did all sides of the heads).
